Chameleon Cloud Account Directions
Please create a Chameleon Cloud account and request a "daypass" prior to the webinar.
From the presenter, Joanmarie:
I am excited to work with you all next week! For the best experience with the webinar, please read this message about accessing the interactive Python activities.
If you have experience with Python, Jupyter Notebooks and GitHub, you are welcome to begin exploring the activities here: https://github.com/pycogss/pycogss-intro-to-python
If you are new to Python and/or do not have a Python installation in which you are comfortable working(which is very fine and the intended audience of this webinar!) please follow these steps:
- Step 1: Navigate to https://www.chameleoncloud.org/ and log in or create an account
- We have been granted access to use the National Science Foundation-funded computing resources on Chameleon Cloud. From the Chameleon resources at https://chameleoncloud.readthedocs.io/en/latest/getting-started/index.html:
- Just click the "Log in" button situated in the top right corner of our main pageâ€" you probably won't even need to create an account!
- If your institution is a member of InCommon& (most US research and education institutions are) â€" or if you have a Google account â€" you can log in with your institutional/Google credentials via the federated login. Otherwise, the log in process will guide you to create an account (read more about logging into Chameleon via federated login). On your first Chameleon login you will be asked to accept terms and conditions of use.
- Step 2: Request a "Daypass" to run the webinar activity
- Find the NAGT webinar activity on the Chameleon website here: https://www.chameleoncloud.org/experiment/share/3f7b7cac-7edc-4153-9bc1-24fef9b430ed. Press the "Request a Daypass" green button and Joanmarie will approve your request in time for the workshop.
- If you have any problems with the steps above, here is an alternative:
- Alternative Step 1: Load the repo with Binder
- This URL will launch the GitHub repo using Binder, a donation-funded server that requires no login or account creation: https://mybinder.org/v2/gh/pycogss/pycogss-intro-to-python/HEAD
