Our members are educators in a wide variety of settings. About half of our members are employed in higher education, primarily as faculty and instructors. About 8% are employed as K-12 teachers, and about 12% are post-secondary students. A smaller proportion of our members come from other sectors such as informal education and industry, or are retired.
Just under half of our members identify as women, and just over a third identify as men. A substantial proportion (about 17%) have not provided a response to this question in their member profile. 2021 was the first year in which we added the "non-binary" option.
