Description

The United States Antarctic Program Data Center is a rich archive of resources and data from projects in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean funded by the US National Science Foundation. In this workshop we will guide participants through the USAP-DC website to explore a diverse range of scientific inquiries and showcase the breadth of data types from this unique region. Examples of datasets from a range of scientific disciplines will be explored to support student investigations from original data.

Webinar Goals

  • Participants will become familiar with the USAP-DC website and learn how to access its data archive
  • Participants will be guided through map and text based searches to explore datasets within the context of regional Antarctic maps
  • Through individual project pages participants will be able to connect original research across disciplines with the underlying data
  • Examples of data formats will be explored, including spatial mapping, drillcore records, lab studies and audio/video resources.
