Webinar Description
This webinar will address the 1869 journey of Civil War veteran John Wesley Powell to explore unmapped territory along the Green & Colorado Rivers, including Grand Canyon. We will discuss our plans, along with our partners, to conduct a modern expedition 150 years later this spring and summer (May 24-July 31). Our goals are to introduce new and diverse audiences to USGS science, to engage teachers and students, and to provide useful, relevant educational resources around the science of rivers. Data collected during the 2019 expedition with SCREE (Sesquicentennial Colorado River Exploring Expedition out of the University of Wyoming) will result in new resources for teachers in 2020.
