NAGT Policy on Event Locations
Approved by NAGT Executive Committee on January 7, 2022
NAGT supports a diverse, inclusive, and thriving community of educators and education researchers. To improve teaching and learning about the Earth, NAGT is committed to offering professional events that are safe and welcoming to all our members and event participants. We therefore strive to offer inclusive events that respect the rights and dignity of all members and participants regardless of aspects of identity including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, color, religion, national origin or citizenship, veteran status, age, physical or mental disability, marital status, and sex (including gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and pregnancy). When evaluating potential event locations, the evaluation will include a consideration of local and regional policies and laws to identify concerns that could present obstacles to holding an inclusive event. When an event location is chosen, NAGT will document any concerns, how they will be addressed, and take reasonable steps to make accommodations to support all event participants. If sufficient accommodations cannot be made, NAGT may seek an alternate location for the event.
