Why personal data are collected
Addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and related information are collection from NAGT members in the course of providing services such as subscriptions, meeting registration, and submission of articles, and in various other interactions. Such information is required to complete the individual order or deliver the service.
Other demographic information, such as education and employment data, is collected when individuals apply for membership. Except as described below, these data and any other information of a personal nature, such as gender, are collected on a purely voluntary basis; furthermore, they are not shared or used in such a way that an individual is identified. Principal uses of these data are for internal assessments of NAGT programs and the membership; additionally, these data, in a consolidated form, may be used in publicly distributed statistical descriptions and studies of the NAGT constituency.
NAGT web logs and associated cookies contain Internet addresses that may be traceable to those visiting the site. This information is used internally by NAGT to create aggregate views of trends in traffic across the NAGT web sites to improve the site. Aggregate data may also be used in publications and presentations about NAGT.
Disclosure of Member Data to 3rd Parties
NAGT does not share individual member data with 3rd parties with two exceptions. The collection and management of NAGT membership information is strictly limited to supporting NAGT functions. NAGT shares information with Taylor & Francis to distribute our Journal of Geoscience Education. NAGT also uses outside credit card processing companies to bill users for goods and services and will disclose your personally identifiable information to these companies as needed to process your orders and to respond to your requests.
Mailing lists may be exchanged with other scientific societies or organizations for one-time use. Such exchanges are made only if the material to be sent is deemed beneficial to the NAGT members to be contacted and advances the mission of both societies/organizations. Such exchanges must be reviewed and approved by members of the Executive Committee.
