Workshop Description

This one-day workshop is part of NAGT's Traveling Workshops Program, which works to strengthen geoscience education through the creation and sharing of research-based curricula. Whether it's your first time teaching at the community college level or your one hundredth, the Active Learning in the Geosciences workshop is designed to provide you with ideas and resources that you can implement into your classes right away.

Workshop Goals

  1. Gain a working knowledge of different research-based active learning strategies that can be employed in geoscience classrooms
  2. Develop a plan on how to implement new teaching strategies into your own geoscience course(s)
  3. Identify how active learning strategies can support students historically underrepresented in the geosciences
