Description
The OSU BPSoG Field Camp projects familiarize students with the local and regional lithostratigraphy of the Cañon City, CO, area through multiple modern and traditional field methods. Strong emphasis is placed on proper mapping techniques as well as employing the scientific method to explain the origin of geologic features. Traditional mapping techniques including pace, aerial photography, topographic maps and Brunton traverses are augmented with modern methods of mapping that utilize digital data collection and GIS-based field mapping. Additional projects include exercises in environmental geoscience, geophysics, and professional data presentation.
