Description

The UAF Geology Field camp visits four different regions in the interior of Alaska where students map sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks with increasing structural complexity. Working semi-independently in small groups, students are building confidence in their mapping skills. Students use a combination of traditional and digital mapping tools to efficiently create accurate geologic maps. Students will learn to create stratigraphic sections, cross-sections, perform structural analyses, manage mapping projects and understand the logistic requirements and challenges of field work in remote regions. All this takes place in the spectacular scenery of Alaska.
