Description
The University of Missouri Geology Field Camp, the longest-running field camp in the country, has hosted students from around the country at our field station, the Branson Field Laboratory, in western Wyoming each summer since 1911. This 6-week course is designed to develop the skills and experiences valued by geoscience employers. Led by faculty that include a spectrum of academic and professional geologists, our students explore both traditional field camp topics (e.g., methods in stratigraphy, mapping, orienteering, etc.) and advanced methods in applied geology, including shallow geophysics, basin analysis, geochemistry, and hydrogeology. Our facility provides a comfortable base for our field activities in the Wind River Range and adjacent basins, including a staffed dining hall, showers, laundry, a teaching laboratory, and a dedicated student lounge. Scholarships and employment opportunities are available for eligible students. See our website for more information.
