Description

Western offers a four-week (4 cr) Field Geology course, followed by a two-week (2 cr) Advanced Field Geology course. Located in the south-central Colorado Rockies, Gunnison is the ideal location for students to study a variety of geological terranes.

Other Important Information

GEOL 450 is based out of Gunnison, CO and includes two week-long camping-based projects. The course emphasizes field geology fundamentals in sedimentation & stratigraphy, regional-scale geologic mapping, detailed structural mapping and analysis, and engineering geology. GEOL 452 is 100% camping and includes more advanced projects in the Uinta Mountains and the western Wyoming thrust belt.
Payment due May 9. GEOL 450 begins May 11, ends June 6. GEOL 452 runs June 9-20.
