Description

There are two options for our camp. One is a "traditional" geology field camp with both traditional and modern mapping methods, geophysics, and stratigraphy. The other is an Environmental Geoscience option, which runs concurrently and focuses more on applied environmental methods such as water and soil sampling, contaminant tracing, and environmental hazard identification.

Other Important Information

All students begin by learning a foundation of traditional mapping and measurement methods before gaining experience in modern instrumentation and data collection. Students at OSU's Les Huston Geology Field Camp can also usually elect to replace one or two of our "traditional" field camp projects with something more tailored to their career interests. Instead of geologic bedrock mapping, students can participate in Environmental Geoscience, Petroleum Geoscience, Paleontology, or Mining Geology projects for 1-2 weeks of camp.
