Description
Situated in the beautiful eastern Talkeetna Mountains of central Alaska, the Limestone Gap field camp provides excellent exposure of diverse Jurassic to Paleogene sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Wrangellia Composite Terrane. The area is perfect for detailed mapping of lithologic contacts and presents interesting structural problems. Our field camp combines traditional geologic mapping with digital tools – we are using tablets and the StraboSpot mapping app. The Limestone Gap field camp embodies the essential Alaskan experience: a remote camp in the tundra, accessed only by small plane, and a chance to see Caribou up close.
