Description
This course addresses the geological and tectonic history of the North American Cordillera as an orogenic system, involving magmatic, structural, metamorphic, and surface processes. The course involves geologic mapping, local and regional cross-section construction, 4D thinking, surface and subsurface interpretation, and reconstruction of the processes that have built the Cordillera. We camp out and move continuously, beginning in Tucson AZ, and traversing Utah, western Wyoming, Nevada, and parts of California. Course content and routes change yearly.
