We offer three types of traveling workshops that can be scheduled and modified to meet your needs. You can read more about the workshop types below.

All workshop types include:

  • Personalized facilitation from two experienced leaders
  • A dedicated, private web space to keep track of resources and work
  • A focus on actionable work, and a collective or individual action plan for moving forward after the workshop.

Two-day in-person workshops

These two-day, in-person workshops engage everyone in your department, program, or network in reflection and action to make your culture, curriculum, and/or courses more effective and inclusive. Themes for these workshops include:

  • Building stronger geoscience and environmental science departments and programs
  • Strengthening your interdisciplinary environmental and sustainability program
  • Supporting the success of all students
  • Making your courses more effective
  • Becoming an inclusive geoscience leader (for graduate students)

These workshops are designed for geoscience departments, interdisciplinary environmental and sustainability-focused programs, and regional networks (e.g., two-year/four-year college partnerships, etc.). Read more about these themes and the process of requesting and hosting a workshop.

Fee: $5000 plus travel and lodging expenses for two leaders

Multi-session virtual workshops

Multi-session topical workshops are virtual workshops held in two or three 2-hour sessions over a few weeks. Available topics include:

  • Inclusive mentoring
  • Making your courses more effective
  • Making your large-enrollment introductory course more equitable and effective
  • Supporting and developing strong teaching assistants (includes graduate students)

These workshops are designed to address more specific topics, particularly where participants benefit from time in between sessions to reflect and make progress. They also work well for groups that are naturally dispersed, perhaps on several campuses or including remote workers. Read more about these topics and the process of requesting and hosting a workshop.

Fee: $2500

Single-session virtual workshops

Single-session virtual workshops cover topics that introduce your group to a specific practice or set of resources in a 3-hour session. Available topics include:

  • Connecting courses and curricula to geoscience workforce skills
  • Marketing your geoscience program

These workshops are designed for groups that are interested in a tightly focused topic. Read more about these topics and the process of requesting and hosting a workshop.

Fee: $1000

Our department benefited greatly from the NAGT Traveling Workshop program... Through various activities organized by the two expert facilitators, we were able to synthesize the similarities in our program goals, curriculum, and values in a way that wasn't possible through typical faculty or curriculum meetings. As a result, we were able to act as a unified department and agree upon three strategic priorities with specific action plans, timelines, and responsible parties for each goal...
