Using GPS data in undergraduate courses: from tectonic motions to water resources and climate change issues

Location: American Geophysical Union Annual Meeting, New Orleans, LA
Times: Course will be 8 am-5 pm on Sunday December 10 (lunch included)

Want to incorporate the latest uses of GPS data in your instruction? This short course will give you the resources and knowledge to hit the ground running this spring.

Using GPS data in undergraduate courses can be challenging, as few prepared resources are available and many instructors are unfamiliar with the wider range of applications. This short course gives instructors hands-on experience with curricular modules that feature GPS/GNSS data and other geodetic time series applied to water resources and climate change topics, as well as the more known use of measuring tectonic motions.

Participants who complete the entire short course will receive stipend of $300 to defray travel costs. An additional $100 is potentially available for instructors who use the materials in subsequent courses and give feedback.

InTeGrate has developed a set of community-built modules that directly address Earth-related grand challenges through the use of engaging, data-rich activities that incorporate interdisciplinary problem solving. In this workshop, we will explore the InTeGrate materials, discuss the underlying design rubric, and work with participants to adapt the materials to their institutional and geographic setting.
