2026 Earth Educators' Rendezvous
July 20-23, 2026, at the University of South Carolina
We're thrilled to gather once again for an engaging and inspiring event in Columbia, SC! This year's Program features an updated format consisting of 2- and 4-day morning workshops, 1/2-day afternoon workshops, and oral and poster sessions, along with a Share-a-thon, exhibitor showcase, and opportunities to connect with colleagues and the community. Preparing for an Academic Career Workshop - at this year's Earth Educators' Rendezvous
What kind of institution is right for you? How can you craft strong research and teaching statements? What does it take to get your first grant? How do you meet the criteria for tenure? This workshop will explore these kinds of questions and other important facets of an academic career.
Register via the Earth Educators' Rendezvous website. A limited number of workshop stipends are available to offset costs.
Date/time: July 20-23, 2026, from 8:30am-11:30am
Location: University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina (as part of the Earth Educators' Rendezvous)
Audience: Current graduate students, post-docs, and others who are interested in pursuing academic careers in the geosciences
Workshop for Early Career Geoscience Faculty
Join experienced leaders and other early career faculty members for a multi-day workshop on effective teaching strategies, course design, establishing a research program in a new setting, working with research students, balancing professional and personal responsibilities, and time management.
Date/time: June 21-25, 2026
Location: Macalester College, Saint Paul, MN
Audience: Faculty in their first three years of a faculty position
Course Design Workshop
Are you developing a new course or revising a course you have taught before? This workshop will help you use backwards design to generate assessments and instructional activities that meet both content and skills-based objectives. This highly interactive, synchronous online workshop will provide time for you to build foundational knowledge of best practices for course design, share strategies and exchange ideas with colleagues, work independently on developing your course, and provide and receive feedback from peers.
Date/time: Mondays and Wednesdays, June 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, and 24 (optional) from 9:30am-11:00am PT | 10:30am-12:00pm MT | 11:30am-1:00pm CT | 12:30pm-2:00pm ET
