NAGT Donation Options
NAGT has established a number of funds that are used to support specific activities during the current budget year.
NAGT Program Fund
Monies donated to the NAGT Program Fund are used to support NAGT programs and operations in the budget year in which the donations are received. Making a donation to the NAGT Program Fund allows us the greatest flexibility to put your dollars to work.
Professional Development Fund
Monies donated to this fund are used to support participation in professional development activities. All professional development funds received from March 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021 will support K-12 educators at the Earth Educators' Rendezvous.
Student Academic Career Prep Fund
This fund, created in 2019 by two generous donors, works to support students at the Earth Educators' Rendezvous. Monies from the fund support 2-days of registration for students attending the Preparing for an Academic Career workshop. To receive the grant, recipients must attend all three days of the workshop, give a presentation after the workshop at their home institution and report on that activity to NAGT.
Field Course Scholarship Annual Fund
Monies donated to this fund are used to support the NAGT Field Scholarship Program in the budget year in which the donations are received. For more information, see the program page.
Dorothy Lalonde Stout Fund
This fund, established in 2001 by her daughters, honors Dorothy "Dottie" Lalonde Stout and recognizes her dedication to the improvement of Earth science education at every level. Monies from the fund support grants to K-12 and community college instructors attending classes or workshops, professional scientific or science education meetings, and participation in Earth science field trips, as well as for the purchase of classroom materials. For more information, see the program page.
NAGT has also established a number of endowed funds that provide long-term support to designated activities and programs of the Association. A donation to one of these funds builds up the endowment principal and generates additional interest income. Income distributions from these funds are governed by the NAGT's Endowment Policy.
Income from the NAGT Endowment is used to support Association programs and the ongoing operating expenses of the Association. The NAGT Endowment was established by the Executive Committee in 2008.
Field Course Scholarship Endowed Fund
Income from the Field Course Scholarship Endowed Fund supports a competitive program of scholarships for students attending field courses. For more information, see the program page.
Honors and Awards Fund
The Honors and Awards Fund was established in 1978 through a generous donation made by one of the founders of the Association. Income from this fund is used to cover expenses incurred in presenting the Neil A. Miner Awards as well as other honors and awards bestowed by the Association. For more information on the various NAGT awards supported by this fund, see the [link https://nagt.org/nagt/awards/index.html 'awards'] area of the website.
Leland Horberg Memorial Endowed Fund
The Leland Horberg Memorial Fund was established by friends of Professor Horberg, longtime professor of geology at Augustana College, at the time of his death in August 1955. Income from the fund has been used to support Association programs designed to improve the teaching of the earth sciences. Since 1990 income from the fund has also been used to support the Association's Field Camp Scholarship program.
Maurice B. Rosalsky Endowed Fund
The Rosalsky Fund was established in 1970 as a tribute to Maurice B. Rosalsky for his many years of dedication and service to the Association, including sixteen years as National Secretary and Secretary-Treasurer of the Eastern Section. Income from the Fund has been used to support a variety of Association programs. Since 1994, with the concurrence of the Rosalsky family, the income has been used to support Field Camp Scholarships.
