Anne Teachout is a geology and oceanography professor at Grossmont College in El Cajon, California. She enjoys helping students connect classroom concepts to the natural world through hands-on and field-based learning experiences. Anne's Fall 2026 sabbatical project focuses on developing a fully online Geologic History course featuring original instructional videos filmed at geologic sites in California, Norway, and Japan. Through virtual field trips and interactive activities, she hopes to make geoscience education more accessible while inspiring curiosity about Earth's dynamic processes.
Kim Jernigan, Glenwood Elementary, Marion, North Carolina
Kim Jernigan has had an outstanding 27-year career in education, creating a legacy of mathematical excellence and mentorship. She dedicated 13 years to Rutherford County Schools before spending the last 14 years as a vital member of the Glenwood Elementary family. While she has influenced students across grades 3-5, Kim truly found her niche in 5th-grade math, where she turned complex equations into accessible, engaging lessons. Her impact extends far beyond the classroom walls, evidenced by the deep affection her students hold for her long after they move on. It is a common occurrence for former students to reach out and stay in touch, a testament to the authentic, lasting connections she fosters.
