Elections: Nomination and Ballot Process

The following election process timeline has information for both the national association elections and Section/Division elections. Both election cycles follow the same overall timeline but vary in how they are implemented according to national, section, or division bylaws.

Chair distributes charge and needs to the Committee – Nomination Committee Chair Section and Division presidents distribute needs, roles, and responsibilities as appropriate – Section and Division Presidents
January - March 14 Nominations are sought through the nominations form and promoted through news and other venues; share information about roles and responsibilities with potential nominees – all Nominations are sought from Section and Division membership and promoted through news and other venues; It is recommended to share information about roles and responsibilities with potential nominees. During this time, Section and Division presidents should follow the processes laid out in their respective bylaws – Responsible Section or Division representatives
March 15 - April 14 Nominations committee discusses nominees, gets input and approval from the Executive Director and Executive Office (verifying membership, no ethics violations, good working relationship), and invites individuals to serve – Nomination Committee Chair leads
April 15 Final slate developed by committee is shared with the Executive Director and Executive Office by April 15 and ready for ExComm approval at face-to-face meeting – Nomination Committee Chair
