All Purpose quantitative analysis tool. Does just about everything (descriptive statistics, correlations, chi square, t-test, ANOVA and the like, Cronbach's alpha, factor analysis, regressions, and linear or path models.

Strengths and Limitations

Strengths:

  • Industry Standard
  • Power program that can make use of a wide range of tests and provide outputs that are attractive and easily integrated into manuscripts
  • Excellent documentation
  • It has features that prevent users from using the wrong statistical analyses

Limitations:

  • It's expensive and requires an annual license (starts at $1200 per person per year)
  • Many users report that it is difficult to use, and often have to rely on outside help
