Visiting Professor - Geology Department, GVSU

The Department of Geology at Grand Valley State University invites applications for a Visiting Professor position for the 2024-2025 academic year. This is a nine-month appointment that is subject to renewal each year for up to 3 years. An M.S. or Ph.D in the geosciences or related fields is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. or ABD in the geosciences with some demonstrated teaching and research experience are preferred. The Visiting Professor will teach mainly entry-level general education courses, where recruitment of majors is a priority, such as Physical Geology with labs, Environmental Geology, Oceanography, and theme-based courses such as Living with the Great Lakes. Class sizes of introductory courses range from 25 to 120 students, with most being around 40. There is also the opportunity to work with undergraduates in a senior seminar course in which students work with faculty mentors to complete a research project.
