Geology Instructor Position, Department of Earth Sciences, The University of South Alabama

The Department of Earth Sciences at the University of South Alabama invites applications for a full-time (9-month), non-tenure-track geology Instructor position, starting August 15, 2024. We seek a broadly trained geoscientist to teach introductory Physical Geology and Earth History sections. Additional duties include maintaining the introductory instructional specimen collection, assisting with a capstone summer field geology course, and assisting with recruitment and outreach activities. Minimum qualifications: a M.S. degree in Geology or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated success in the classroom as well as the potential to recruit undergraduate geology majors and to contribute to the outgrowth of the department, college, and university.

The Department of Earth Sciences consists of 14 full-time faculty members and approximately 160 undergraduate majors. The department offers B.S. degrees in geology, geography, and meteorology, as well as a GIS certificate/minor.
