TEACHING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR BOONE PICKENS SCHOOL OF GEOLOGY OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY

The Boone Pickens School of Geology at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is seeking applicants for a non-tenure, career track position of Teaching Assistant Professor at the Stillwater, OK campus. This is a 9-month, three-year assignment with opportunity for renewal and promotion, contingent upon available funding. Additional salary for summer instructional duties may be available depending on availability of funding. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2024. The successful applicant should have a PhD degree in geosciences or related field at the time of appointment.

For this position, we are seeking a geoscientist with online teaching experience that will specialize in teaching large undergraduate online courses. We are seeking an individual who will also have experience with, and interest in, participating in outreach programs and assisting with recruitment and retention activities. Moreover, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the Field Camp Director in teaching Field Geology during the 5-week summer field camp in Cañon City, Colorado. Candidates will be expected to support the learning needs of students from all backgrounds, be an effective mentor, and demonstrate a commitment to engaging communities underrepresented in academia.

The School has hardware and software to facilitate teaching, field instruction, and research in the School's areas of specialization. The School also operates the Gary F. Stewart Core Research Facility and a field camp facility near Cañon City, Colorado. Additional resources to facilitate online instruction and pedagogy, including workshops through the Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence, course development programs, and a state-of-the-art multimedia studio are available through the College of Arts and Sciences and OSU.
