AGI: Brief Critical Issues Survey
published Nov 25, 2013 10:18amAGI's Critical Issues program (http://www.americangeosciences.org/critical-issues) has launched its "Defining Critical Issues" survey to understand how the decision-making community, geoscience community, and the public define the term "critical issue," as well as which critical issues are of top concern to each community.
The survey is deliberately short, broad, and unstructured in order to capture a wide range of responses. The survey can be accessed at: http://surveys.agiweb.org/index.php?sid=33589 (site offline). The Critical Issues program will release an analysis of the preliminary results of this survey at the end of November, and will post this report on its website.
The Critical Issues program will provide geoscience information to support well-informed individual and public decision making on a range of geoscience-related topics. The program will also promote public awareness of the value of the geosciences to society, highlight best practices for incorporating geoscience information at all decision-making levels, and develop and strengthen connections between the geoscience and decision-making communities. This survey will help guide the development of the program and provide a snapshot of perspectives on critical issues.
