Dear Student Members,
If you are interested in preparing for an academic career, improving your teaching skills, or interacting with colleagues to promote learning about the Earth, we invite you to participate in the 2020 Online Earth Educators' Rendezvous (EER). The EER will be held virtually this year from July 13-17, 2020.
Although the meeting will be held online, the Program is largely what it would have been if we were meeting in person, so you have the opportunity to experience the Rendezvous at reduced registration rates and without the expense of travel and lodging. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity!
The Online Rendezvous has programming specifically for graduate students, post-docs, and those thinking about a career in academia:
- The Preparing for an Academic Career workshop is designed for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows who are interested in pursuing academic careers in the geosciences. Stipends of $175 each are available, by application, to support a limited number of graduate student participants. Apply for a stipend by June 1.
- Afternoon programming that may also be of particular interest to graduate students, post-docs, and those thinking about a career in academia includes:
- Afternoon Mini-workshops: Getting Started in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and Imposter Syndrome
- Afternoon Roundtable Discussions: Implicit Bias, Handling Grad School Stress, and Gaining Teaching Experience Beyond the Lab for Grad Students and Post-docs
Registration for the EER is by day. Space in morning workshops is limited and you must reserve your space through the registration process. Afternoon workshops and discussions are open to anyone registered for that day's events. For example, if you would like to participate in the Preparing for an Academic Career workshop, you would register for 3 days (Mon-Wed) and have access to all programming on that day. If you are only interested in the programming on one day, you can register for that single day.
In addition, the afternoon contributed program on Wednesday and the plenary talks on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon are open to anyone who is registered for at least one day of the Rendezvous.
As an NAGT Member, you will receive $100 off your Online Rendezvous registration. Register for Rendezvous today and join us for this unparalleled professional development opportunity!
Sincerely,
Anne Egger, NAGT Executive Director
