The Department of Geology and Geography at Auburn University invites applications for a 9-month non-tenure track faculty position in Geology beginning January 1st, 2014. The position is a one-year appointment subject to annual review based on performance and funding.

The candidate should be pedagogically trained to teach courses in physical geology and historical geology. Applicants must have either a Ph.D. or M.S. in Geology/Geoscience with demonstrable teaching experience, and those with pedagogical/education coursework and/or degrees are preferred. The successful candidate will: teach three or more lecture sections and possibly one or more lab sections per term; serve as laboratory coordinator in charge of weekly meetings with GTAs, and interface regularly with instructors; supervise, mentor, and evaluate GTAs; be in charge of lab evaluations and assessments and make sure that the labs are maintained; and participate in STEM activities and grant-writing opportunities in conjunction with the Director of Outreach, College of Sciences and Mathematics. Required qualifications include exemplary communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills. The candidate selected for the position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment begins.
