The Department of Geology and Environmental Geosciences at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, invites applications for an entry-level, visiting assistant professor in geology; Ph.D. or ABD required. The position is for the fall 2025 and spring 2026 semesters. Qualified applicants for this visiting position will have no more than four years of full-time postdoctoral teaching experience at the time of appointment. They seek applicants with a demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse student body. Familiarity with Appalachian geology is desirable.

The visiting professor will teach two sections of an introductory geology course with two accompanying lab sections in fall 2025, and two sections of an introductory geology course with two accompanying lab sections in spring 2026. Both fall sections will be physical/environmental geology. The spring courses may be the same as the fall, or could be introductory historical geology. Courses serve both majors and non-majors. Each section is capped at 24 students.

Bucknell University's department offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Geosciences. Bucknell's geosciences program is field intensive and they expect faculty to make use of local Appalachian field opportunities for labs in the courses.
