Assistant Professor of Geology - University of Arkansas Little Rock

The UA Little Rock School of Physical Sciences Geology Program invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Geology (R0041356). This is a nine-month, tenure track appointment to start on August 16, 2024. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

The Job

The Geology Program has an ABET-accredited BS in Geology (with optional Environmental Geology concentration), and advises graduate students in the Applied Science Graduate Program. Research working with both undergraduate and graduate students is encouraged and supported. Facilities include teaching and research microscopes, geochemical instrumentation, rock preparation equipment, field research equipment, dedicated vans, and virtual teaching resources. Additional campus assets include spectroscopy and microscopy instrumentation in the Center of Integrative Nanotechnology Sciences. Participation in professional development opportunities, including funding for conference and workshop attendance, is strongly supported.

Education and Experience

Required Education and/or Experience: A Ph.D. in Geology or a related field at the time of appointment; ABD candidates will be considered.

Preferred Education and/or Experience: Ability to teach Structural Geology, Field Geology, Introductory Geology, and courses in the applicant's area of expertise. GIS experience is desired. Experience teaching at the college level is desired.
