Description
The Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center (BPCRC) of The Ohio State University announces the 2023 Byrd Scholarship Program for Postdoctoral Researchers. This program was established through a significant gift from the Byrd Foundation in memory of Rear Admiral Richard and Marie Byrd. This program provides scholarships for postdoctoral researchers with superior academic backgrounds pursuing advanced research on topics relevant to polar and alpine environments and global climate change. Postdoctoral Scholars must have received their Ph.D. within three years of selection and are expected to be in residence at the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center during the tenure of their fellowship. Each Byrd Scholar is mentored by a Center investigator with whom they collaborate on research of mutual interest. Therefore, those interested in applying should first contact potential mentors to discuss possible projects and determine how their proposed research will complement the wide range of existing BPCRC programs. You can find a listing of current Byrd Center researchers and their specialties at People | Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center. The fellowship is for 18 months and provides a competitive stipend and a research and travel allowance.
Apply
Applications must be received no later than January 13, 2023. Selection of scholarship recipients will be made by March 15, 2023. Each application must include a statement of general research interests, a detailed description (five pages maximum) of the specific research project to be conducted during the scholarship term, curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference. In addition, a letter of support from the BPCRC mentor and a Postdoctoral mentoring plan is required. Reference letters and the letter of support from the BPCRC mentor should be requested by the applicant but sent directly to BPCRC by the reference providers. Appointments may start on the first day of any month between May 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. Please see the complete instructions at The Byrd Postdoctoral Scholarship | Byrd Polar
and Climate Research Center.
