The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences seeks to fill 2 Non-Tenure Track Teaching Instructor positions to teach and coordinate 3 courses per semester. One instructor will teach courses in the area of paleobiology and paleoclimatology and the other instructor will teach courses in physical geology. These courses will be at the 100- to 200 level with the majority of the courses enrolling ~150 students in each section. The 100- and 200- level geology courses in Earth and Planetary Sciences satisfies the Natural Science requirement for the university and draw students from many different majors at Rutgers. The university has a highly diverse undergraduate student population, which is represented in these courses. Therefore, prior experience teaching to diverse groups and with in-person and virtual learning is preferred.

Minimum Requirements- Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences or a related field and past teaching experience. This will be a renewable appointment at the rank of Teaching Instructor and salary commensurate with experience.

Required Skills- Previous experience teaching introductory geology or other introductory Earth science courses to both science and non-science majors in both in person and virtual formats. Experience with Online Learning Management Systems is required and familiarity with active learning and current pedagogical methods and course design is preferred.
