The Department of Earth Sciences at Montana State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Igneous or Metamorphic Processes. We seek an active teacher and researcher in the one of the areas of igneous or metamorphic petrology with a strength in field-based petrologic research. We seek someone who can contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives, has demonstrated empirical and analytical skills, and is eager to build a nationally competitive research and teaching program that supports undergraduate/graduate education. The successful candidate will be expected to teach lower division Earth System Science, undergraduate Earth Materials, Mineralogy, and Igneous or Metamorphic Petrology, and upper-division/graduate courses in their specialty area and contribute to doctoral training. The Department strives to maintain a rich and diverse faculty group, and women and underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.
