NAGT Activities at GSA
published Sep 18, 2013 4:29pmOne of the great things about GSA is being able to meet other geoscience professionals who are also committed to education about Earth at all levels "K to Gray." There are so many opportunities to reconnect with friends and colleagues and meet new ones.
In particular the Geoscience Educators Social Reception on Sunday evening, 27 October, from 6-8PM is a great time to network and talk to other people interested in education issues. The reception is co sponsored by GSA, GSA Geoscience Education division, NAGT, DLESE, On the Cutting Edge, InTeGrate, IRIS, JOI, UNAVCO, and Earthscope. Last year in Minneapolis, the room was packed with tons of new faces. Come and be one of them this year. The reception is free and open to all.
The NAGT/GSA Geoscience Education Division/CUR Awards luncheon will be held on Tuesday, 29 October from 11:30AM-1:00 PM. We will recognize award recipients from the three organizations, including the Outstanding Earth Science Teachers Awards, the Jim Shea Award, and GSA's Biggs Award. Come be a part of recognizing the excellence that abounds in geoscience education at all levels. (Note that the awards luncheon is a ticketed event. If you are interested in attending the luncheon, please sign up for the event when you register for the meeting.)
Alongside the Educator's Reception there are also some smaller meetings of those interested in NAGT's three Divisions, two of which are brand new. If your interests lie around education at two-year colleges, preparing new geoscience teachers, or geoscience education research, be sure to check these out.
