National Fossil Day Art and Photo Contest 2013

Dear National Fossil Day Partners,

We are excited to share with you a new venture for our National Fossil Day (NFD) partnership. During 2013 we have designed the NFD Art Contest theme to promote the idea of establishing a "National Fossil" for the United States. Now that we have a National Fossil Day – perhaps we might want to open up the discussion about what fossils would make good candidates as America's National Fossil.

This year's NFD art and photo contest will help to kick-off a nationwide election to determine what fossil might best represent the United States as our "National Fossil". Six top candidate fossils will be selected from the 2013 art and photo contest submissions and announced on National Fossil Day 2013. These six candidate fossils will move forward as part of a nationwide vote by school children across the US during 2014. The winner of the National Fossil election will be announced on National Fossil Day 2014! More information about the National Fossil election will be forthcoming.

Please visit the Art Contest page on the National Fossil Day website for full Art Contest rules, and the official entry form: [https://www.nps.gov/subjects/fossilday/index.htm]

We encourage you to share this information and the website for the NFD Art / Photo Contest with schools and other groups that your museum or organization in your local area or who you provide educational support.

As always, we thank you for your continuing support and enthusiasm for National Fossil Day.
