Dear Colleagues:

We would like to share with you an exciting PKAL opportunity taking place this summer. The PKAL Summer Leadership Institute is designed for early and mid-career STEM faculty engaged in leading projects aimed at transforming undergraduate STEM education in their classrooms, departments, and institutions. Limited scholarships are available for eligible faculty. These five-day intensive institutes provide faculty participants with the theory and practice required to act as agents of change in their home institutions or professional societies. They are held in the heart of the Rocky Mountains at the Baca Campus of Colorado College in Crestone, Colorado. PKAL is in its fourteenth year of offering the Summer Leadership Institutes.

Each institute will consist of up to twenty-five participants and eight mentors who are leaders in STEM, with activities including plenary seminars, experiential leadership exercises, group discussions, and personal reflection.

If you are an early or mid-career STEM faculty leader or chair, please consider applying for this institute. If you are a campus leader, please consider supporting the application of one or more emerging STEM faculty leaders who you think might benefit from this transformative experience. Some campuses have supported several participants and are thus building a team of STEM leaders ready to implement more effective and inclusive learning environments. Applications are due no later than Friday, April 6, 2012. For more information on the application process, click here.
