New modules on using ConcepTests, Lecture Tutorials, and Structured Academic Controversy, and Teaching with Google Earth are now available on the Cutting Edge website. ConcepTests are conceptual multiple-choice questions that focus on one key concept of an instructor's learning goals for a lesson. They can be used for quick formative assessment during a lecture. Lecture Tutorials are short worksheets that students complete in class to make lecture more interactive. They are designed specifically to address misconceptions and other topics with which students have difficulties. Structured Academic Controversy (SAC) is a type of cooperative learning strategy in which small teams of students learn about a controversial issue from multiple perspectives. Teaching with Google Earth shows instructors how to bring rich imagery and interactive information into the classroom. Each module includes information about the method, how to use it in your classroom, references, and a collection of example activities.
