What is the Rendezvous?

The Earth Educators' Rendezvous is an annual week-long conference hosted by NAGT and the Science Education Resource Center. Events include workshops, oral and poster sessions, teaching demonstrations, panel discussions, plenary talks, working groups, field trips, lab tours, and more. Among many options, participants can learn about new teaching approaches, discover opportunities to get involved in research programs, prepare for an academic career, or discuss how to approach teaching and learning challenges in their classroom. Consider joining the Rendezvous for 2- or 3-day blocks, or for the whole week-long (5-day) event.

Who is the Rendezvous for?

The Rendezvous brings together researchers and practitioners working in all aspects of undergraduate Earth education, including a mix of college faculty, graduate students, and K-12 teachers from all disciplines who are interested in improving their teaching about Earth. The Rendezvous program is designed to appeal to everyone from the instructor attending their first Earth education-themed meeting, to experienced STEM education researchers, to administrators who want to better support students in their programs.

Program

The Rendezvous program features a combination of workshops, contributed talks and posters, round table discussions, plenary sessions, and working groups discussing a rich mix of topics. This year's Rendezvous provides special opportunities for:

  • Interactive multi-day workshops, featuring strategies for supporting all students, education research, curriculum design, and more
  • Half-day mini-workshops, featuring a variety of topics, teaching methods, professional development, career resources, and more
  • A contributed program to share your work and learn from the community, including oral and poster sessions, teaching demonstrations, and a Share-a-thon
  • Plenary talks, forums, and roundtable discussions
  • Pre- and Post- Rendezvous Field Trips and Lab Tours featuring local geology and cutting edge research facilities will also be available. Details and registration for these events will be available soon!

Contributed Program

The Contributed Program offers a venue to share your work and to discuss current research and teaching practices in the Earth Science education community. Submit an oral or poster session abstract, a Teaching Demo, or a Share-a-thon proposal for consideration by Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
