As part of NAGT's continuing efforts to support and amplify diverse perspectives in the geosciences, we are excited to participate in the upcoming inaugural Black in Geoscience Week (#BiG), which will run from September 6-12, 2020.

NAGT would like to show support for #BiG by elevating Black voices and celebrating Black geoscientists. If you identify as a Black geoscientist (including Earth scientist, atmospheric scientist, oceanographer, environmental scientist, and planetary scientist), and you love communicating on Twitter, we invite you to take over the NAGT Twitter account for a day during #BiG week to begin and amplify discussions on #BiG threads and Black scientists during this week.

Twitter takeovers provide a unique platform for fresh perspectives and inspiration, and can help strengthen a sense of community. Taking over the NAGT Twitter account during #BiG week is a fantastic opportunity for an NAGT member(s) to increase interaction, launch new dialogues, share knowledge, and impart influence. If you do not identify as a Black geoscientist, we hope you will join us in celebrating and amplifying our colleagues' voices by retweeting or liking events and discussions by Black geoscientists and by continuing to take actions to support a diverse geoscience community.
