Greetings,
We are a group of Science Faculty with Education Specialties (SFES) interested in identifying other SFES across the nation. While all college and university science faculty are education specialists in some regard, we define SFES here as individuals who either: 1) have been specifically hired in science departments to specialize in science education, OR 2) have transitioned to a role as a science faculty member focused on issues in science education after their initial hire.
You are being included in this message because you are involved in geoscience education activities and may be a Science Faculty with an Education Specialty (SFES) yourself. As a collaborative research team of SFES, we have conducted and published an initial study of SFES in the California State University system. That study was recently published in Science magazine (http://sepal.sfsu.edu/about-sfes.html).
From this study, it became clear that there is a need for a greater understanding of SFES across the nation. As a result, we are conducting a National SFES Search. This search is a prelude to planning a national study of SFES who are working at different types of higher education institutions. If you are an SFES or think you might be an SFES, please complete our brief, 5-minute survey at the link below.

Beyond a national research study of SFES, our long-term goals are to foster a national SFES professional community and to promote cross-disciplinary SFES conversations.
Please let us know you are out there and complete our brief National SFES Search survey today!
Also, please forward this message to your colleagues who might be interested.
Thank you in advance for your time.
Sincerely,
