Using the Forensic Geophysics (GPR) IGUaNA module at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte

I used the module in Applied Geophysics, which covers instrumental analysis of Earth's geophysical parameters, the study of human-induced seismic and electrical signals, and natural magnetic and gravitational fields for the purposes of locating faults, ore bodies, ground water, and geotechnical or archaeological targets. The course has three hours of lecture and one three-hour lab per week, and is designed for Geology BS and Earth and Environmental Sciences BS majors, and sometimes Civil Engineering students. This implementation was in a class of 12 students. See the course syllabus (Acrobat (PDF) 165kB Jul21 22) for more detail.

Summary

Very useful as a stand-alone but also a good guide to constructing custom modules.

Implementation

Although I have several field projects that I use as GPR case studies in this course, the IGUaNA model contains very straightforward descriptive materials and interactive components (if you use Windows for some).

Modifications

This was integrated in my lab lecture sequence as is with additional oral materials.
