TABLE 1. Examples of types of models: A concrete model is more realistic (ex., physical asperity
model or physical outcrop) than an abstract model (ex., diagram made of symbols or video of
color-coded data). A dynamic model is one that changes in real time (ex., a physical model, video, or
animation) where a static model cannot be changed (ex., an outcrop or diagram).
