Geosemiosis
V. R. Baker 1999 Geological Society of America Bulletin v. 111, no. 5, p. 633-645

Baker argues that geoscientists have not been active in developing a philosophy of geoscience. He contends that this paper marks an attempt to begin to describe the philosophical underpinnings of geology through semiotics, the study of signs and their interpretation.
