Next Generation Educational Technology Versus the Lecture

This article discusses the problems with using lectures to teach important material and proposes video games as an alternative. It emphasizes the importance of an immersive environment and of learning by doing. Assessment can be achieved by requiring players to complete all of the learning requirements at one level before moving on to the next. The author suggests that online-video-game learning might enhance the effectiveness and attraction of distance learning.
