The Survival of Academic Geology Programs
P.G. Feiss 1996 GSA Today v.6, n. 1, p. 16-17

Dr. Feiss argues that geologists can no longer expect to focus only on 'real science' and leave all the political and administrative unpleasantness to other departments. He lists four areas where Geology Departments should be prepared to justify their existence (demand, quality, cost, centrality to school mission) and then provides guidance on how to do so.
