Spring 2010 Field Trip and Annual Meeting
When: March 19th-21st, 2010
Where: Salt Lake City, UT and Capitol Reef National Park
Cost: $50 - see below (c'mon - that's pretty darn good...)
Itinerary:
- Friday, March 19, 2010 - no cost
- 1:00-6:00 - Geology to the North and East of Salt Lake City. This trip will follow a syncline from City Creek Canyon to Cephalopod Gulch through to Red Butte Canyon and Emigration Canyon. There are beautiful exposures of Late Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary strata that are waiting for us.
We will meet at the waterfall on the east side of the Salt Lake City Convention Center at 1:00. NAGT will supply vans for the field trip for free, but you must register so we can get a headcount.
- 6:00-8:00 - Social with ExComm and Annual Meeting at Squatters Brew Pub, Downtown SLC.

- Saturday, March 20, 2010 - $50
- 1:00 - Meet at the Capitol Reef Visitor's Center (directions)
We will meet and greet and head to the field station. There will be a brief orientation there, and then we are on our own!
- 1:00-5:00 - Geologizing* in Capitol Reef
- 6:00 - Dinner at Field Station (NAGT provides)
- Evening talk - Kaatje Kraft "Not Just Jocks Studying Rocks"

- Breakfast at Field Station (NAGT provides)
- 8:00-noon - More Geologizing* in the park, there's just so much to see!
- 12:00 - Disband and think of ways to communicate this amazing field trip to generations to come.
*Geologizing - hiking, observing, discussing and interpreting geologic strata from the Permian, Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous time.
